직무 설명

Role overview

This position is for a Design Engineer to help develop advanced space structures and flying hardware for ambitious missions, including the Conical Imaging Microwave Radiometer for the Copernicus Mission. The role sits at the intersection of procurement, engineering, and product development, with a strong emphasis on CAD-based design work, as well as assembly and integration support for selected projects.

The company is developing large deployable antenna technology in Europe for European and international markets. The team is multicultural, highly driven, and focused on turning innovative ideas into practical, mission-ready hardware.

What you will do

  • Develop fresh design ideas that improve existing products and help shape new designs using clear, concise, data-backed analysis.
  • Build 3D CAD models, detailed part and assembly drawings, and parts lists in SolidWorks.
  • Provide engineering input for assigned projects while helping deliver technical and schedule targets.
  • Support the Lead Design Engineer and contribute to a stronger, more collaborative design team environment.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations, and participate in internal and external design reviews and discussions.
  • Create detailed BOMs and coordinate with Supply Chain to define procurement needs and secure timely delivery of parts.
  • Take ownership of assigned designs and work with internal and external partners to refine designs and interfaces.
  • Collaborate with the analysis team and provide inputs needed to validate designs through FEA.
  • Work with the MAIT team by preparing instructions and inputs for manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing design documents with strong configuration control in SolidWorks PDM.

Requirements

  • A degree from a university or university of applied sciences in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in design engineering within a European space or aerospace environment.
  • Hands-on experience designing structural mechanical parts, including composite materials, ideally using SolidWorks, plus metal and CFRP components.
  • Strong command of English and German, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and understand complex designs with minimal ramp-up time.
  • Comfort working to tight schedules while managing personal workload and project demands effectively.
  • Prior experience with space systems such as deployable structures and hold-down and release mechanisms is a strong advantage.
  • Analytical, solution-oriented approach with the communication skills needed to work well across teams and with partners.
  • Good knowledge of technical drawings and DIN standards.
  • Strong capability in technical reporting.
  • Ability to spot opportunities for design improvement and influence changes with practical, innovative solutions.
  • Solid understanding of metal manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacture principles.

Additional information

Experience with space projects, as well as ESA and ECSS standards, is highly desirable.

Perks and work environment

  • Opportunity to contribute directly to space missions that advance Earth observation and telecommunication from space.
  • Flexible working hours with a core time.
  • Relaxed atmosphere with a flat hierarchy and an open, motivated team.
  • Casual dress code.
  • Modern office with good infrastructure, including nearby shops, restaurants, and a gym.
  • Convenient access to public transport, with the U-Bahn about 6 minutes away on foot.
  • Room for personal growth and development in a growing multicultural team of specialists.
  • A demanding, fast-moving role at the cutting edge of space technology.
  • Chance to collaborate on several projects at the same time.
