Role overview

The University of the Sunshine Coast is seeking a Data Management Specialist to join the Insights and Analytics Unit at either the Sunshine Coast or Moreton Bay campus. This is a full-time, ongoing position at Level 7, with a salary range of $105,843 to $115,703 per annum, plus employer superannuation of up to 17%.

In this role, you will help improve how the University manages, governs, shares, and uses data so that it can make better decisions and support meaningful outcomes. You will work with colleagues and subject matter experts to strengthen the foundations of data governance, data quality, architecture, and interoperability across the organisation.

What you will do

  • Support and guide initiatives that improve how the University handles, protects, and uses its data while helping build awareness and capability across teams.
  • Deliver data management projects that create value, lower risk, and assist staff who depend on reliable data in their daily work.
  • Develop and put into practice practical strategies, frameworks, and procedures that align with recognised global standards and best practice.

About you

You are someone who understands the value of data and can translate that value into practical insight and impact. You are collaborative, curious, and comfortable working across teams to improve how information is managed and used. You are also able to identify new trends and technologies, simplify complex ideas, and help others build their data capability.

Skills and experience

  • Deep practical knowledge of data management, including experience creating and rolling out strategies, frameworks, policies, and procedures in a large and complex organisation.
  • Experience working with compliance requirements in higher education or a similar environment, including records management, information governance, copyright, privacy, and related regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects across multiple business areas, with strong planning, facilitation, influencing, and relationship-building ability.

Additional information

The University encourages applications even if your experience does not match every requirement exactly. Your broader work and life experience will also be considered. The organisation is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds, including people with disabilities, women in STEM, First Nations Peoples, and people of diverse cultures, genders, abilities, and experiences.

Application details

Applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia. Unsolicited applications are not accepted.

The closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 21 June 2026.

To apply, submit a resume and a statement of suitability of no more than two pages, addressing the selection criteria in the position description.
