Role overview
This contract opportunity is for a Cyber Security Analyst supporting a client in safeguarding systems, networks, and sensitive information. The work is remote and can be done from anywhere, with a part-time structure and hourly pay.
Compensation and work arrangement
Pay is listed at USD 20 to USD 80 per hour. The assignment is contract-based, remote, and part-time.
Key responsibilities
- Track and assess security alerts and event data from sources such as SIEM platforms, firewalls, and IDS/IPS solutions.
- Examine security incidents to understand their scope, business impact, and underlying cause.
- Deploy and support security measures that reduce risk and help prevent repeat incidents.
- Perform vulnerability reviews and suggest practical remediation steps.
- Document incidents thoroughly, including findings, actions completed, and recommended next steps.
Required background and skills
- Hands-on experience with SIEM tools such as Splunk, QRadar, or similar systems.
- Working knowledge of network security, firewalls, and intrusion detection and prevention technologies.
- Familiarity with vulnerability scanners such as Nessus, OpenVAS, or Qualys.
- Understanding of security frameworks including NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls.
- Ability to inspect logs and network traffic for unusual behavior and threats.
- Experience following incident response processes and security best practices.
- Strong analytical thinking and close attention to detail.
- Capability to work independently and manage time well in a remote setting.
