Role overview

The Crewing Coordinator is central to running ESPN-produced remote events. The role focuses on coordinating the hiring, deployment, and scheduling of technicians for remote productions while keeping track of personnel assignments across events.

Key responsibilities

• Support the planning of live sports broadcasts and remote event operations.
• Understand the different remote technical roles, what each person does, and the skills needed for them.
• Work with the equipment commonly used on mobile units.
• Apply a working knowledge of the current ABC/NABET hiring agreement.
• Identify and coordinate with outside crewing vendors when needed, based on location.
• Select technicians by balancing skill sets, production needs, and event budgets.
• Take part in regular discussions with operations and production partners for supported events.
• Review payment terms with technicians during hiring and make sure schedules, travel rules, and payment options are clearly communicated.
• Understand the basic payment process for hired personnel.
• Work collaboratively and provide backup support to other coordinators when necessary.
• Be available outside standard business hours, including nights and weekends, as business needs require.

Required experience and capabilities

• At least 1 year of experience in technical, crewing, or operational planning/procurement within remote broadcasting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Awareness of current equipment trends and production procedures.
• Working understanding of organizational, financial, and logistical processes involved in producing a show.
• Ability to follow hiring and payment policies accurately.
• Strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and comfort working under tight deadlines.
• Working knowledge of the technical equipment needs involved in ESPN production operations.
• Understanding of procurement requirements for technical and operational equipment used in broadcasts.

Preferred qualifications

• Familiarity with ESPN remote production operations requirements.
• Comfort using Microsoft Office Suite, Smartsheet, and scheduling tools.

Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Compensation and benefits

The expected salary range for Connecticut is $54,000 to $72,300 per year, based on a 40-hour workweek. Weekly hours may vary depending on business needs. Actual pay may differ based on internal equity, the candidate’s location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may also be included, along with the company’s full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, depending on the level and role offered.

Work schedule

This position may require work outside standard hours, including nights and weekends. Scheduled hours per week can change based on business needs.
