About the role
Eco-Business is seeking a seasoned journalist to join its editorial team in Singapore and create daily coverage on sustainability and development trends across Asia Pacific. The position is based at the company’s Singapore headquarters and focuses on regional business and policy reporting.
The ideal candidate will bring solid newsroom experience, excellent English writing and speaking ability, and a strong grasp of energy and finance topics in the region. Experience managing editorial projects will be an advantage. Journalists with a background in business or policy reporting and a strong track record in those areas will also be considered.
You should have strong news judgment, a disciplined approach to deadlines, and the ability to work well with others. A genuine interest in sustainable development and its connection to the business world is important. Experience with photography, design, or multimedia storytelling will be viewed positively.
This role reports to the editorial team and works closely with the broader editorial group and EB Studio on branded content. You will need a solid understanding of sustainability-related policies, regulations, and trends, plus the ability to build reliable sources across different sectors and turn complex subjects into clear, engaging stories for readers.

Responsibilities
- Report news, conduct interviews, and contribute to planning editorial coverage, including pitching and developing timely news and feature ideas for the audience.
- Prepare and submit stories in different formats, using AI-based content tools where permitted under editorial standards and policy.
- Create content across platforms on sustainability themes and developments in the Asia Pacific region.
- Work with internal teams on content creation for thought-leadership projects when needed.
- Develop original investigative stories that are insightful and impactful.
- Build and nurture a dependable network of sources across relevant industries.
- Handle social media activity related to your stories, including posting and moderating reader comments.
- Source and republish opinion articles, manage content partnerships, and review incoming opinion pitches, editing when necessary.
- Support regional projects and events by drafting press releases, marketing materials, event write-ups, newsletters, and proofreading content.
- Travel from time to time as required.
Requirements
- Strong enthusiasm for sustainable development topics.
- A degree in Journalism, Communications, Environmental Studies, or another relevant discipline.
- At least 2 years of journalism experience at a recognised media outlet, or a strong freelance portfolio published by reputable outlets.
- A proven record of producing original, high-quality reporting, along with the ability to distribute content effectively on digital channels.
- Skill in turning complex subjects into accessible and engaging stories.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and perform well under tight deadlines.
- Sound knowledge of journalism ethics and editorial standards.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently with limited supervision.
- Team-oriented mindset and willingness to learn and develop.
- Ability to speak an additional Asian language is an advantage.
- Familiarity with multimedia production tools such as photography and videography, plus working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, HTML/CSS, and social media or project management platforms, is a plus.
- Good understanding of Eco-Business’s brand and editorial approach.
