Role Overview
As a Continuous Improvement Specialist, you will help shape and reinforce a company-wide culture of continuous improvement by defining, documenting, and maintaining process standards. You will work with teams across the organization to uncover opportunities for better performance, capture best practices, and support training in Lean and Continuous Improvement methods such as Standard Work and Kaizen.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with cross-functional departments to improve and standardize operational processes.
- Develop and document Standard Work Instructions.
- Track process-standard updates, maintain revision control, and communicate changes to affected teams.
- Create process maps and value stream maps.
- Maintain process documentation templates, Standard Work Instructions, and the documentation repository system.
- Prepare Kaizen event materials, including supporting documents, A3 worksheets, and readiness checklists.
- Collect and organize operational and financial data to establish process metrics.
- Support the planning, facilitation, and execution of Kaizen events focused on process improvement.
- Assist with rollout planning and timelines for new processes.
- Follow up with stakeholders before and after Kaizen events to confirm alignment and implementation readiness.
- Help define quarterly continuous improvement goals and lean event priorities.
- Lead and support improvement projects that enhance operations.
- Assist in presenting major initiatives and project updates to the operations leadership team.
- Support internal audits to verify process compliance.
- Coach and educate cross-functional teams on Lean principles.
- Handle additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Solid understanding of Continuous Improvement and Lean principles.
- Strong motivation to improve internal and external customer outcomes.
- Willingness to explore new approaches and practical, creative solutions with a growth-oriented mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal ability.
- Proactive approach to identifying process enhancements.
- Ability to drive process change in a cross-functional environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, including Visio.
- Comfort with participating in or facilitating Kaizen events.
- Confidence in leading operational continuous improvement projects.
- Strong sense of accountability for safety, quality, and customer service.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of experience in Project Management, Operations, Quality, or Continuous Improvement.
- Experience in the construction or equipment rental industry is preferred.
Work Environment and Travel
This role is mainly performed in an office setting or remotely. Travel is limited but required, at approximately 20% to 30% of the time. You may also need to visit outdoor worksites when necessary.
Compensation
This is a full-time salaried exempt position with annual pay in the range of $65,000 to $80,000.
