About the role
An experienced and driven Business Manager is needed to take ownership of day-to-day operations, support business expansion, and contribute to strategic decisions. The position plays an important part in lifting performance, using resources effectively, and delivering strong outcomes for customers and stakeholders.
This role carries responsibility for overall operational and commercial results across warehousing and transport, customer accounts, compliance, safety, risk, people leadership, continuous improvement, system utilisation, project delivery, and new business implementation.
Core responsibilities
The position combines operational discipline with commercial leadership in a busy, customer-focused environment.
- Take accountability for the safety environment, ensure health and safety obligations are met, and drive reporting and corrective actions.
- Lead day-to-day distribution centre operations, workforce planning, process improvement, and adherence to WMS and SOP requirements.
- Maintain and grow relationships across multiple clients, resolve escalations, and support DIFOT performance and new customer setups.
- Own financial outcomes, including budgets, cost control, margin improvement, and efficiency gains through P&L management.
- Guide and develop Operations and Customer Service leaders, handle HR and IR matters, and help build a strong, high-performing team.
- Support continuous improvement activity, project work, and the effective use of systems and tools.
- Contribute to business growth initiatives and lead new implementation activity where required.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate will bring a strong mix of logistics operations knowledge, leadership ability, and commercial awareness.
- A business degree or supply chain qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of management experience in logistics or 3PL environments.
- Solid understanding of warehousing, transport operations, and warehouse management systems.
- Proven ability to lead teams, communicate clearly, and manage stakeholder relationships.
- Strong commercial capability, including P&L ownership, reporting, and financial planning.
- Advanced MS Office skills and hands-on experience with continuous improvement initiatives.
- A well-organised, dependable, customer-oriented approach with the ability to juggle competing priorities.
Working arrangements and offer
This is a full-time onsite position based in Auckland, New Zealand. The working pattern is Monday to Friday, 45 hours per week, typically between 8:00am and 5:30pm.
