Position Overview

Bon Appétit Management Company is looking to add baristas for both full-time and part-time shifts at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. The role focuses on preparing espresso-based beverages and related food and drink items while delivering a friendly customer experience.

Work Location and Schedule

Pay and Hiring Notes

Role Summary

The barista will prepare and serve coffee and espresso drinks, handle food safely, maintain the service area, and interact with customers and coworkers in a courteous, efficient manner.

Responsibilities

• Prepare espresso drinks and related customer and catering orders using standard recipes and measurements.
• Record orders accurately in the POS system and process cash and card transactions.
• Restock condiments, beverages, and general supplies while keeping the service area tidy.
• Maintain correct portioning, presentation, and serving temperatures in line with HACCP standards.
• Keep equipment, utensils, and work areas clean, sanitary, and organized.
• Use approved recipes and production standards to ensure proper food preparation.
• Clean display equipment and remove debris throughout meal service.
• Thoroughly clean the workstation and equipment before moving on to other duties.
• Welcome guests politely and respond in a way that supports customer satisfaction.
• Share customer concerns with supervisors when needed.
• Work quickly and efficiently to avoid delays in serving lines.
• Understand daily menu offerings and explain them clearly to customers.
• Use selling and communication skills to help customers make purchasing decisions.
• Present display foods attractively and serve items neatly according to standards.
• Carry out other assigned duties as needed.

Requirements

• Prior barista experience is preferred.
• Ability to follow food-safety and sanitation standards, including HACCP guidelines.
• Comfort with POS entry and basic payment handling.
• Capability to work varied day and hour schedules.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Some roles may require Florida Level 2 background screening.
