Baker / On-the-Job Trainee

Role Summary

Safeway Canmore, part of Sobeys, is hiring a Baker / On-the-Job Trainee for its Bakery Department in Canmore, Alberta. The role may be either part-time or full-time and is focused on producing bakery items to company recipes and quality standards, keeping products rotated and fresh, and delivering excellent service to shoppers. What You Will Do

• Follow company procedures, standards, and policies consistently.
• Welcome customers in a courteous and helpful way.
• Deliver a high level of customer service in line with Safeway programs.
• Prepare bakery items according to Safeway recipes and presentation standards.
• Handle donut frying and oven-related tasks, where applicable in Alberta and British Columbia.
• Receive product deliveries and store them properly.
• Maintain cleanliness by washing and sanitizing bakery equipment.
• Rotate baked goods to keep stock fresh.
• Stock and refill bakery display cases.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

The role involves regular movement and physical activity. Tasks may include frequent lifting of up to 20 pounds, occasional lifting of 20 to 50 pounds, and repeated bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting. Standing, walking, gripping, and reaching are required throughout the shift.
