Role Overview

Based in Reason’s Washington, DC studio, the associate producer will support video shows and interviews by working side by side with short-form creators as both an editor and an on-location shooter. The role also includes researching, developing, and pitching original video ideas as the team grows. This is a junior-level, full-time, in-person position reporting to the Managing Editor of Video and Podcasts, Natalie Dowzicky.

What You’ll Do

• Create and edit short-form video pieces.
• Track current events closely to surface timely themes and story ideas.
• Offer creative input and direction while filming.
• Work with editors, hosts, and the wider video team to deliver polished content on schedule.

What We’re Looking For

• Some background in video production, cable news production, television broadcasting, or a comparable area is preferred; no prior experience is required.
• Strong teamwork and clear communication skills.
• Good organization and the ability to manage time effectively in a busy environment.
• Basic editing ability in Adobe Premiere is helpful, though not mandatory.
• A solid understanding of libertarian ideas and comfort with Reason’s mission and editorial stance.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position is expected to fall between $60,000 and $70,000, depending on experience. Benefits include health, dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k) with employer match; flexible paid time off; paid holidays and sick leave; paid parental leave; and optional supplemental insurance.

The Washington, DC office is described as collaborative and lively, with an open setup, free coffee, and distinctive wallpaper. The space regularly hosts events and gatherings and serves as a place where editorial collaboration, discussion, and debate support the organization’s broader work.
