About the Role
Arc'teryx is bringing its first store to New Zealand, opening in Auckland. The brand is known for high-performance outdoor gear engineered for demanding weather and rooted in design, performance, and respect for the outdoors.
This is a standout opportunity to help launch the region’s largest Alpha Store and contribute to building a flagship destination for outdoor fans, the local community, and the Arc'teryx brand. The role offers the chance to help shape a store from the beginning and influence the brand’s presence in New Zealand.
Role Purpose
As Assistant Store Manager, you will work closely with the Store Manager to lead and develop the team, deliver an outstanding guest experience, and keep the store running smoothly every day. The position combines people leadership, operational delivery, and commercial focus while helping establish a strong connection with the Auckland community.
Key Duties
- Guide and motivate the team to deliver excellent guest service and reach sales targets.
- Promote a culture built on accountability, growth, and strong performance.
- Support visual merchandising, product knowledge, and strategies that improve sell-through.
- Lead from the front and assist wherever needed across the stockroom and sales floor.
- Help strengthen community relationships and represent the Arc'teryx brand locally.
- Work with the Store Manager on hiring, onboarding, coaching, and ongoing team development.
- Contribute to operational excellence, including labour scheduling, inventory control, and maintaining store standards.
Experience and Attributes
The role suits someone with 2–3 years of leadership experience in a retail setting, along with a growth-oriented, entrepreneurial approach. You should bring a genuine interest in the outdoors and the equipment that supports adventure, as well as strong communication skills and a collaborative leadership style. A strategic commercial mindset and the ability to make clear decisions are also important, along with a real commitment to developing people, serving guests, and building community.
