Role overview
This contract position is based in Singapore and sits within a precast and civil construction environment. The role focuses on managing commercial agreements across supply, fabrication, erection, transport, and installation activities, while ensuring contractual alignment with project execution and technical requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, examine, and negotiate contracts covering precast supply, fabrication, erection, transport, and installation work.
- Work with project managers, estimators, procurement staff, and engineers to ensure contractual commitments match project schedules and technical specifications.
- Spot commercial and contractual exposures, then put controls in place to reduce risks tied to delivery, timing, and logistics.
- Confirm that agreements follow the applicable construction rules, codes, and standards, including structural, load-bearing, and environmental requirements.
- Build and preserve positive client relationships while safeguarding the company’s position during negotiations and dispute handling.
- Monitor contract execution, including variations, claims, extensions of time, and disputes.
- Create reusable contract templates and promote sector-specific contract management practices.
- Manage contract closure activities, final account resolution, and post-contract evaluations.
- Assist with the training and development of internal contract and commercial team members.
- Coordinate with legal counsel on major or complicated disputes when necessary.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Law, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years of experience handling contracts in precast, construction, or civil engineering settings.
- Solid understanding of relevant contract frameworks and commercial terms.
- Hands-on experience with supply contracts, subcontractor agreements, and construction programme coordination.
- Good awareness of sector risks such as site access constraints, transport scheduling, structural tolerances, and off-site manufacturing lead times.
- Comfortable using MS Office, contract management platforms, and ERP systems.
