Apartment Building Maintenance Worker

Role overview

This position supports the upkeep and day-to-day operation of an apartment and condominium complex in Windsor, Ontario. The role is carried out entirely at the physical work site, with no remote-work option.

Language requirement

English communication is required for this job.

Education

A college, CEGEP, or another non-university certificate or diploma from a program lasting one to two years is needed.

Experience

Applicants should bring between 3 and less than 5 years of related experience.

Main duties

• Maintain cleanliness in common areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and waxing hallways, floors, and stairs
• Use industrial vacuum equipment to remove dirt, scraps, debris, and other waste
• Collect and dispose of garbage from bins and waste containers
• Clean interior windows, walls, and ceilings
• Carry out small fixes on heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems, and bring in tradespeople when larger repairs are needed
• Promote available units
• Arrange repair and maintenance support through contractors
• Complete minor appliance repairs
• Carry out safety and security inspections
• Present apartments and office spaces to prospective tenants
• Relocate heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed
• Handle routine maintenance tasks such as painting and drywall patching
• Water and care for plants, lawns, and gardens
• Disinfect bathrooms and fixtures
• Work with limited supervision
• Remove snow and ice from walkways and parking areas

Experience and specialization

Work involves paint and wallpaper materials, cleaning duties, and use of power tools.
