Role overview
The Academic Support Officer will help students strengthen academic skills, improve communication, and better understand academic integrity. This role works closely with Course Coordinators and teaching staff to identify learner needs, run workshops, and manage academic misconduct matters in line with organisational policy.
Key duties
- Run workshops focused on academic skills development and academic integrity.
- Work with referred students by creating learning plans and monitoring progress.
- Handle academic misconduct cases according to policy and procedure.
- Partner with academic staff to improve learning outcomes for students.
- Support ongoing service improvement and provide updates on student support activity.
- Direct students to suitable internal support services when required.
About you
You should bring strong communication and people skills, along with solid time management and the ability to organise priorities effectively. Comfort with technology and learning platforms is important, as is the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Experience supporting students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds is valued. You will also need to be proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and hold a Master’s degree in TESOL, Education, or a closely related discipline.
Desirable experience
Prior experience in academic support or tertiary-level teaching will be an advantage. A sound understanding of academic integrity principles and student learning needs is also desirable.
