Traffic Inspector

Overview

WSP is hiring a Traffic Inspector to support construction projects in Riyadh by helping maintain smooth traffic movement and protecting the safety of road users. This role focuses on site inspections, traffic management implementation, and ensuring that all work aligns with approved plans, standards, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine checks on traffic control arrangements, including signs, road markings, and signals, to confirm they match approved drawings, specifications, and legal requirements.
• Assess traffic management plans, temporary diversion routes, and work-zone layouts to spot risks, safety concerns, and bottlenecks, then suggest practical corrective actions.
• Observe traffic movement around project sites and evaluate how construction activity affects motorists, pedestrians, and surrounding communities.
• Work closely with contractors, engineers, local authorities, and law enforcement to coordinate traffic strategies and reduce disruption.
• Put temporary traffic measures into place, such as lane closures, diversions, and interim signal systems, while following approved plans and safety procedures.
• Support traffic impact studies and modeling to forecast the effect of construction on congestion, travel time, and safety, and recommend ways to limit negative outcomes.
• Examine traffic incidents, crashes, and near misses, record findings, identify likely causes, and propose preventive improvements.
• Guide and train construction staff and traffic control teams on procedures, safety expectations, and compliance obligations.
• Keep up with new developments, technologies, and good practices in traffic management and transportation planning, and apply relevant updates to project work.
• Maintain WSP’s focus on safety, sustainability, and quality in every stage of project delivery.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required; professional traffic management certifications or licenses are a plus.
• At least 7 years of experience in traffic management, transportation planning, or a similar area, preferably on road, bridge, highway, or tunnel projects.
• Demonstrated experience working with leading international construction consultants and meeting traffic-related rules and standards.
• Strong knowledge of traffic engineering concepts, traffic control devices, and traffic management methods.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with different stakeholders and build cooperative working relationships.
• Ability to use relevant software for traffic analysis, simulation, and modeling.
