Overview
Jasmax is looking for a Senior Technical Advisor to join its Auckland studio. The organisation is a highly awarded architecture and design practice with studios throughout Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia, and a team of more than 250 people. Its work spans architecture, interior design, urban design, and landscape architecture, delivered through integrated, multi-disciplinary expertise.
The role
As part of the Knowledge and Innovation team, you will help keep the business at the leading edge of project delivery, building systems, procurement, compliance, and digital technology. In this position, you will support studio teams so their work aligns with client expectations and established best practice.
Your day-to-day contribution will include technical advice, coaching, and practical support for project teams across New Zealand and Australia. A major part of the role is to strengthen the technical standard of design, documentation, and delivery processes within the company’s Quality Assurance System. Because the organisation is ISO accredited, operating in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 is an essential part of the job.
At times, project teams may also need help with planning documentation or resolving technical issues. Being involved directly in projects from time to time will also help identify training needs and improvement opportunities.
Skills and experience
- You should be a registered architect with 15+ years of experience delivering large, complex projects through all project stages.
- Strong expertise in materials, products, and constructability is required.
- You need a thorough grasp of design, documentation, construction, and regulatory requirements for successful project delivery.
- A solid technical understanding of commercial construction systems and how they connect with structures and services is important.
- Knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code, related regulations, and compliance processes is essential.
- Exposure to Australian architectural practice would be an advantage.
- The role calls for a strong emphasis on quality, risk control, compliance, and practical innovation.
- You should also have a well-developed design sensibility and value design excellence.
- A cooperative mindset and comfort working closely with others are important.
Benefits
- Professional growth is supported through CPD events, in-house learning, supplier presentations, and payment of professional membership and registration fees for relevant industry bodies.
- A title structure is in place to support internal career progression and recognition.
- Wellbeing support includes flexible start and finish times, one day of work-from-home allowance, free flu vaccinations, discounted health insurance, free EAP counselling, and extended parental leave.
- The workplace is diverse and inclusive, with equal opportunity principles and Gold Supporter status for the Pride Pledge.
- The culture is social and connected, with regular anchor events held during the year to mark achievements and significant dates.
Application notes
Applicants will need the right to work in New Zealand. The maximum file size for submitted documents is 5 MB. Applications close on Monday, 13 July 2026, though reviews and interviews may happen before that date.
