Role Overview
The Orchard Place is seeking a Quantity Surveyor with a strong procurement focus to support construction project cost management and purchasing activities in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The position centers on budget control, procurement planning, supplier coordination, and reporting across major construction packages.
Quantity Surveying and Cost Management
- Check bills of quantities carefully and spot any mismatches or missing items.
- Build project budgets and cost plans.
- Track project spending against the sanctioned budget.
- Prepare monthly cost summaries and cash flow projections.
Procurement Responsibilities
- Create procurement timelines that match construction schedules.
- Draft requests for quotation and tender documents for materials and subcontracted works.
- Collect and assess price quotations from vendors and subcontractors.
- Negotiate pricing, payment conditions, delivery timelines, and contract terms.
- Raise purchase orders and subcontract agreements.
- Set up and update approved supplier records.
- Review supplier pricing and overall performance.
- Develop productive working relationships with important suppliers.
Reporting
- Prepare updates on procurement progress.
- Create cost monitoring reports.
- Produce budget variance summaries.
- Maintain material movement and tracking reports.
Experience Requirements
This role requires construction experience in the UAE, with a minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant exposure in UAE-based projects.
Major Procurement Packages
The selected candidate should be familiar with handling procurement for major packages such as concrete, reinforcement steel, aluminium and glazing, tiles and ceiling systems, joinery, marble and stone, elevators, and waterproofing.
