Role overview
This role is for a Project Manager supporting a multinational biotech client in Dublin. It is a 12-month initial contract focused on engineering readiness for a new syringe fill plant within the Operations Readiness Programme.
The position reports to the Associate Director and calls for a professional with strong project delivery capability, particularly within pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing environments. The person hired will be expected to coordinate cross-functional work, keep projects on track, manage risks and issues, and support the launch of new products and the stability of existing ones.
Key responsibilities
- Take ownership of engineering readiness activities for the new filling plant.
- Align project goals with customers, management, and the wider project team.
- Coordinate the launch of new processes, equipment, and materials, including troubleshooting equipment problems before qualification and start-up.
- Work closely with system owners, maintenance supervisors, technicians, capital project engineers, and vendors on equipment upgrades and retrofits.
- Help design and implement maintenance programmes and optimise spare parts inventory as new equipment is introduced.
- Partner with workstream leads to build and maintain the project schedule and plan in line with programme objectives.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with all stakeholders involved in the project.
- Maintain a controlled project scope that remains understood and agreed by stakeholders through to completion.
- Handle risk and issue management in a disciplined and practical way.
- Keep action, risk, and decision logs up to date.
- Own the GMP change control process.
- Lead, motivate, and support project team members so they deliver against the project plan.
- Run team meetings and encourage effective collaboration across functions.
- Work with resource managers across the organisation to secure and allocate the people needed to deliver projects on time.
Compliance and working standards
- Ensure full adherence to cGMP requirements at all times.
- Maintain safety and compliance standards at the highest level.
- Support financial compliance in line with business and finance guidance.
- Promote a culture of personal accountability within the reporting structure.
What the employer is looking for
The ideal candidate will bring leadership experience from a pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing setting, with regular interaction with site SMEs, managers, and global teams. They should be comfortable influencing stakeholders, guiding cross-functional groups, and helping ensure both new product introductions and existing product health are managed smoothly.
The role also requires someone who can work independently, spot risks early, define practical mitigation steps, and contribute to continuous improvement across product and programme leadership.
Qualifications and experience
A technical degree and/or master’s degree, or an equivalent qualification, is required. Candidates should have 5 to 8 years of experience in a life sciences, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology environment, including at least 3 years in a Project Manager role.
Preferred background includes portfolio management, portfolio resource management, and business case development.
Tools and systems
Experience with Smartsheet, MS Office, MS Project, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio, and Trackwise change control/document management systems is expected. Smartsheet is specifically preferred.
Application and eligibility notes
Candidates are expected to submit an updated CV. The employer has stated that visa sponsorship is not available, so applicants must already have the correct visa to live and work in Ireland.
