Role Overview
This is a permanent purchasing and procurement opportunity with an industrial wholesale business in the Columbus, Ohio metropolitan area. The position is based onsite five days a week and follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The annual compensation range is $65,000 to $80,000.
What You Will Handle
- Keep inventory at the right levels so product remains available to support customer demand and sales goals.
- Act as a central contact point for vendors, sales, customer service, and warehouse teams on buying activity and supply issues.
- Prepare and manage purchase orders, including pricing, quantities, and delivery timelines.
- Review stock levels and replenish items according to minimum and maximum planning targets.
- Set up and maintain part numbers, supplier information, and inventory settings in the system.
- Follow up with suppliers on order progress, pricing changes, and delivery commitments.
- Chase overdue backorders and work with vendors to improve shipment timing.
- Support customer service with updates on product availability and backordered merchandise.
- Coordinate with sales teams on new item setup and expected arrival dates.
- Work with warehouse and receiving teams on inventory concerns, bin changes, new product intake, and vendor returns.
- Enter vendor confirmations, shipment details, and pricing updates into purchasing systems.
- Process stock adjustments and return-to-vendor transactions.
- Monitor, document, and escalate supplier performance concerns when needed.
- Assist with vendor scorecard reporting and quarterly performance reviews.
- Keep purchasing and inventory records accurate and organized.
- Quickly identify and resolve issues tied to purchasing, inventory, and supplier management.
What We Are Looking For
- Two to five or more years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain work.
- A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, or a related area is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Outlook and Excel.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and recommend practical solutions.
- Good project management capability.
- Very high attention to detail.
