Overnight Housekeeper

Role overview

As an overnight housekeeper, you will help keep the facility clean, sanitary, and organized through routine light cleaning and sanitation work. The role also includes supporting overnight safety and emergency response needs.

Key duties

• Sanitize and clean sensitive and high-touch areas such as procedure rooms, washrooms, operating room tables, stretchers, vents, internal windows, walls, glass surfaces, doors, and mirrors.
• Gather, wash, and fold linens.
• Wet-mop hard flooring and operate floor-scrubbing equipment when needed.
• Inspect major shared spaces, including lobbies, staircases, elevators, escalators, and mezzanine areas, and clean them when required.
• Vacuum carpeted spaces and carry out carpet extraction as needed.
• Remove waste from resident or patient rooms and common areas.
• Protect resident and staff privacy by keeping all information confidential.
• Keep the environment safe at all times, including placing wet-floor signage where necessary.
• Follow all health and safety procedures while performing duties.
• Immediately inform the supervisor about any injuries or hazards.
• Handle emergency cleanup tasks as required.
• Carry the community emergency phone overnight and support resident health emergencies by coordinating with first responders.

Required experience and abilities

• Prior housekeeping work is an advantage, especially in healthcare, hospitality, or commercial cleaning environments.
• Ability to manage a busy workload with strong organization and time management skills.
• Comfortable using English for both speaking and writing.
• Able to understand and follow both written and spoken instructions.
• Physically able to carry out the job duties, including lifting up to 20 pounds.
