Role summary
This position sits within the Global Sourcing Commodity Risk Management team in Newbridge, Ireland, and reports to the Director, Commodity Risk Management. The role is intended for a seasoned risk professional who is eager to build deeper expertise in commodity risk management tools, processes, and policies.
In this role, you will lead global commodity risk management initiatives, oversee the execution of futures, options, OTC, and forward fixed-price contracts, build price forecasts for assigned commodities, and communicate insights to senior management. You will also work closely with global sourcing teams so that sourcing strategies and contracts support multi-tier commodity hedging.
Working with the Director, you will help shape a risk management approach for a defined portfolio of commodities, with the goal of managing inflationary and deflationary pressures while supporting business stability. The position also requires strict adherence to KDP’s Global Commodity Risk Management and Hedging Policy, as well as all other internal standards.
Key accountabilities
- Maintain full compliance with the KDP Risk Management Policy, SOX requirements, reporting obligations, and all other internal rules.
- Take part in key sub-committees and help ensure risk management remains central to business updates and decisions.
- Work across management and functions such as supply chain finance, procurement, controlling, and group treasury to recommend, execute, and report hedging activity in line with company policies and procedures.
- Support the Director in building a strong compliance culture and higher risk awareness across the business.
- Help design a comprehensive global risk management approach for assigned commodities.
- Assess worldwide supply and demand trends for assigned commodities, develop market views, and help protect margin, create price certainty, and support margin improvement.
- Track market developments, stay current on trends, and manage external relationships.
- Prepare clear, concise regular updates and reports for senior business leadership, and present verbal briefings to stakeholders when needed.
- Monitor and interpret movements in Greeks, VAR, stress testing, and back-testing exceptions.
- Work with Procurement to embed commodity risk management across tiers 1, 2, and 3 within sourcing strategies.
- Keep the risk management system updated accurately and on time.
- Review and explain P&L movements.
- Support your own ongoing development to benefit both your career and the wider team and business.
- Represent KDP professionally at industry meetings, events, and in communications with brokers, vendors, and counterparties.
