Laundry Attendant

About the Role

This position is a key part of a busy commercial laundry setup. The Laundry Attendant helps move bulk laundry through the process efficiently, works with specialist laundry machinery, and takes care of washing, drying, sorting, folding, packing, and labeling garments. The role also involves keeping the laundry workspace orderly, hygienic, and well-organized.

Key Responsibilities

• Support daily commercial laundry activity so guest, uniform, and operational items are processed on time.
• Use specialist laundry tools and equipment, including folding machines and calendaring ironers, carefully and accurately.
• Fold, sort, label, stock, and pack garments to maintain quality standards.
• Keep the laundry area clean, orderly, and efficient at all times.
• Move laundry trolleys and related items safely to avoid damaging linens or equipment.
• Clean and disinfect trolleys and similar items according to standard procedures.
• Assist with washing, drying, and sorting tasks whenever directed by the Team Leader, Laundry.
• Coordinate with the team on uniforms, guest laundry, and other special handling requirements.
• Perform runner duties to support smooth day-to-day laundry operations and urgent needs.
• Identify and report equipment faults or operational issues to a supervisor promptly.
• Follow safety rules and operating procedures to help maintain a safe workplace.
• Keep accurate records of items processed and ensure documentation is completed properly.
• Support stock control by monitoring laundry supplies and replenishing them when required.
• Work in line with all company rules and procedures relating to commercial laundry operations.
• Check equipment regularly and escalate maintenance concerns when needed.
• Take part in training sessions to stay current on operational and safety best practices.
• Provide backup support to washer, dryer, and sorter functions when requested.
• Maintain the flow of laundry from intake through final delivery with attention to quality and speed.
• Present yourself professionally and communicate politely with guests.
• Use all supplies and equipment responsibly and effectively.
• Follow lost-and-found procedures carefully, including recording and storing found items securely and notifying management.
• Escalate service defects, guest complaints, and incidents to the Team Leader Laundry or Assistant Manager Laundry without delay.
• Help train new team members in job-related tasks when asked.
• Support the valet laundry team as required.
• Attend team events, briefings, and compulsory training sessions and participate actively.
• Build positive working relationships across all levels and contribute to a supportive workplace culture.
• Stay flexible with working hours and be prepared to work additional time when operational demand requires it.

Education, Skills & Experience

A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required. Additional hospitality-related education is considered an advantage. The role calls for fluency in the local language and spoken and written English; knowledge of another foreign language is a plus. Applicants should already have the capability to perform the duties of a Laundry Attendant and bring at least 2 years of experience in a five-star hotel or commercial laundry environment.
