  • Help custodial staff maintain cleanliness and sanitation in washrooms, showers, and locker rooms.
  • Organize your work by preparing daily schedules and prioritizing tasks.
  • Handle outside site maintenance, including snow and ice removal with shovels, blowers, or walk-behind equipment, and clearing debris.
  • Check the building exterior for damage or vandalism and complete minor repairs or escalate larger issues to the appropriate supervisor or trades staff.
  • Keep maintenance records and equipment documentation up to date.
  • Carry out daily opening and closing procedures for the facility.
  • Perform additional related duties as needed.

Requirements and qualifications

  • A minimum of Grade 10 education, or an equivalent level of schooling.

  • Comfort with operating mechanical and electrical equipment after training, along with basic familiarity with Google Workspace tools such as Gmail, Docs, and Sheets.
  • Alignment with the City’s cultural commitments and leadership competencies.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, reconciliation, and inclusion.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence, or an equivalent provincial licence, or higher.

  • Willingness to work a changing schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
  • Current Intermediate First Aid, CPR-C, and AED certifications.
  • Applicants may be required to complete assessments or tests.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in changing weather and environmental conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, dust, and dry conditions.
  • Comfort working around mechanical and electrical hazards and handling facility chemicals while using required protective equipment such as steel-toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves.
