Role Summary
This full-time, on-site Janitor position is based in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria. The role involves carrying out everyday cleaning and upkeep duties to ensure assigned areas remain clean, sanitary, and orderly. The Janitor is expected to handle routine maintenance tasks, observe hygiene and safety standards, monitor cleaning materials, and report any facility-related concerns promptly. Professional conduct with clients and coworkers, along with the ability to follow schedules and respond to special cleaning needs, is also part of the job.
Core Duties
- Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, waste collection, restroom cleaning, and general tidying of designated spaces.
- Keep facilities in proper condition through regular housekeeping and basic upkeep activities.
- Track cleaning supplies and flag shortages or replenishment needs in a timely manner.
- Identify and report maintenance issues or other facility concerns when noticed.
- Maintain consistent hygiene and safety standards across all assigned areas.
- Work professionally with clients and team members while handling routine requests and special cleaning instructions.
- Follow established cleaning schedules, procedures, and workplace guidelines accurately.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Practical knowledge of janitorial and housekeeping work, including cleaning, sanitation, and basic facility care.
- Ability to deliver polite and helpful customer service when dealing with client requests.
- Readiness to undergo training and consistently follow instructions, procedures, and safety practices.
- Awareness of how service-based support can contribute to client satisfaction and retention.
- Strong attention to detail, dependability, and the ability to work from checklists and schedules with limited supervision.
- Physical fitness to carry out manual cleaning duties, remain on your feet for long periods, and lift moderate loads safely.
- Basic English communication skills, including the ability to understand written instructions and workplace signs.
- Previous work in cleaning, janitorial services, or facilities maintenance is helpful but not mandatory.
- Punctuality and openness to feedback and corrective guidance.
