Role overview

This full-time grocery associate role supports the department manager in working toward sales and profit targets. Key duties

• Help customers feel welcomed, valued, and supported so they return with confidence and loyalty.
• Keep the department set up according to merchandising plans and store expectations.
• Make sure shelves are stocked with fresh products, product rotation is followed, inventory stays at expected levels, and pricing/signage stays accurate.
• Support ordering and ensure cooler and freezer conditions are maintained appropriately.
• Assist shoppers by locating items or recommending products when needed.
• Work with team members to build trust, encourage cooperation, and share relevant company, department, and role information.
• Follow all applicable local, state, federal, and company rules and guidelines.
• Monitor inventory and stocking conditions and report shortages or discrepancies.
• Check product quality and freshness and take proper action when items do not meet standards.
• Keep food at safe temperatures and maintain required temperature log documentation.
• Maintain safety, sanitation, proper food-handling, and productivity standards.
• Follow food safety and regulatory requirements, including USDA, COOL, and DOA rules.
• Carry out recalls and withdrawals promptly and restrict customer access to affected items.
• Help reinforce safety programs by following procedures, identifying hazards, and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Report accidents involving customers or employees, as well as safety risks or illegal activity such as robbery, theft, or fraud.
• Follow wage-and-hour policies and help promote a safety-first culture in the store.
• Ensure all associates work safely and receive required safety training.
• Confirm hazard assessments are available for reference and that required PPE is used.
• Make sure equipment is maintained properly and report or help address safety issues, including lockout/tagout concerns.
• Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States, or able to obtain that authorization.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background verification.
• Strong customer service ability is required.
• Good interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills are needed.
• 0 to 3 years of relevant experience is preferred.
• English is required; Spanish is preferred.

Working conditions

• This position involves varied shifts.
• Travel is occasional and overnight travel is not expected.
• Physical work includes standing and walking for long periods, repeated movements, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and other manual tasks.
• Environment may include indoor and outdoor areas, cold, frozen, heated, and wet or humid conditions.
• There is regular exposure to slippery or cluttered floors, sharp objects, hazardous equipment, and twisting or bending movements.
• Occasional exposure may include loud noise, dust, fumes, sprays, skin irritants, hazardous cleaners, and other toxins.
• Equipment may include cleaning tools, office tools, register systems, pricing guns, scales, scanners, racks, carts, pallet jacks, and shopping carts; preferred equipment includes a baler/compactor and box cutter.
• Protective gear may include goggles, gloves, and a back brace.
• Pulling requirement: 250 lbs.
• Lifting requirement: 50 lbs.
