Position Summary

The Graphics Designer & Webmaster will support strategic communications, digital visibility, and workforce engagement efforts for APPEL Knowledge Services (APPEL KS) and the Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE). This role acts as the main point of contact for web content operations, graphic design, multimedia creation, video editing, and digital communications that advance NASA’s workforce development and knowledge-sharing goals.

In this position, you will create, update, and manage content across NASA.gov, OneNASA SharePoint, newsletters, publications, podcasts, presentations, and other digital and print communication channels. You will partner with TWEEDS leadership, subject matter experts, stakeholders, and communications teams to produce content that is engaging, visually polished, and technically accurate while supporting organizational priorities.

Strategic Communications & Workforce Engagement

  • Contribute to APPEL KS and OCE communications efforts by producing digital, print, and multimedia materials.
  • Build and refresh content for public NASA.gov pages and internal OneNASA SharePoint sites.
  • Design graphics, presentations, articles, newsletters, outreach pieces, case studies, white papers, and related materials that strengthen workforce engagement.
  • Assist with interviews, publications, outreach initiatives, and campaigns focused on workforce engagement.

Web Content Management & Digital Presence

  • Act as webmaster for APPEL KS digital properties and keep content timely, accurate, accessible, and consistent with NASA expectations.
  • Handle website updates, publishing tasks, navigation enhancements, and digital asset organization across NASA.gov and SharePoint.
  • Support content workflow coordination and maintain processes that enable efficient drafting, review, approval, and publishing.

Graphic Design & Multimedia Development

  • Create graphics, infographics, visual communications, marketing assets, event materials, and digital content for APPEL KS programs and initiatives.
  • Produce multimedia assets such as videos, animations, learning materials, promotional pieces, and digital storytelling content.
  • Develop artwork and visual branding elements for courses, events, publications, and workforce development programs.
  • Support virtual events, webinars, and knowledge-sharing programs with visual and multimedia deliverables.

Podcast Production & Knowledge Sharing

  • Create promotional materials and supporting communications for podcast episodes and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Work with subject matter experts and guests to help ensure strong podcast production and audience connection.

Video Production & Editing

  • Lead planning, creation, editing, and delivery of video content for workforce development, knowledge-sharing, and strategic communications.
  • Produce and edit instructional, promotional, interview, event, course, and executive video content for internal and external audiences.
  • Oversee the full video production cycle, including storyboarding, script assistance, recording coordination, editing, motion graphics, audio cleanup, captioning, and final publication.
  • Create visual content that translates technical and educational material clearly for varied NASA audiences.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, instructors, leaders, and stakeholders to produce video assets aligned with learning and business objectives.
  • Ensure all video deliverables meet NASA standards for branding, accessibility, quality, and communications.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Experience managing website content through content management systems and SharePoint.
