Floor Care Associate

Role overview

This position is responsible for keeping store areas clean, sanitary, and safe, with a strong focus on floor maintenance and restroom upkeep. The role supports a positive shopping experience by helping maintain consistent store conditions that strengthen customer trust and loyalty. Key responsibilities

• Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free conditions across the sales floor, liquor store, offices, breakrooms, backrooms, training rooms, and approximately 70% of restroom duties.
• Operate floor-care machinery and department equipment safely, using the appropriate tools and cleaning chemicals for the task.
• Sweep or vacuum mats and rugs, then return them to their proper locations after cleaning.
• Remove carpet spots, empty trash, and carry out deep-cleaning tasks in restrooms.
• Help create a welcoming store atmosphere so customers feel valued and supported, including offering help in locating products or suggesting items.
• Maintain the company’s standards for cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and productivity throughout the workday.
• Follow all food-safety and regulatory requirements, including USDA, COOL, and DOA rules where applicable.
• Complete product recalls and withdrawals quickly, ensuring affected items are secured and kept away from customers.
• Support safety programs by following procedures, spotting hazards, and reporting unsafe conditions to management.
• Report customer or employee accidents, as well as any safety concerns, theft, fraud, robbery, or other illegal activity.
• Follow wage-and-hour policies and help promote a strong safety culture in the store.
• Ensure that associates work safely, receive required safety training, and have access to posted hazard assessments and personal protective equipment when needed.
• Confirm that equipment remains in proper working order and report safety issues, including helping with lockout/tagout remediation when required.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States, or be able to obtain authorization.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and a background check.
• Strong customer service ability is required.
• Good interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills are needed.
• Relevant experience: 0 to 3 years.
• English required; Spanish preferred.
• Must be able to handle the physical demands of retail floor care work, including standing, walking, repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, pushing, and carrying.
• May need to work in indoor and outdoor settings, including cold, freezing, heated, and wet or humid conditions.
• Must be able to work around slippery or cluttered surfaces, sharp objects, loud noise, dust, fumes, sprays, irritants, and hazardous cleaning products.
• Required equipment may include cleaning supplies, office equipment, register, pricing gun, scales, scanner, and material-handling tools such as racks, carts, pallet jacks, and shopping carts.
• Preferred equipment includes a baler/compactor and box cutter.
• Personal protective equipment may include goggles, gloves, and a back brace.
• Pulling requirement: 250 lbs.
• Lifting requirement: 50 lbs.
• Travel may be occasional; overnight travel is not required.
• Work schedule includes varied shifts.
