Role overview
Xpress Freight Management is seeking a seasoned Fleet Manager to join its Sydney depot in Arndell Park. This position is central to the day-to-day coordination of freight pick-ups and deliveries, with responsibility for planning routes, assigning work, and dispatching services. It is a practical, high-accountability role that contributes directly to the performance of the Sydney operation and the wider business.

Key responsibilities
- Allocate pick-ups and deliveries across the local fleet, with strong familiarity with the Sydney area considered essential.
- Oversee drivers, including pallet tracking, monitoring proof of delivery records, and ensuring delivery windows are achieved.
- Keep fleet-related costs tightly controlled across both pick-up and delivery activities.
- Act as a major contact point between fleet operations and customer service.
- Make sure freight and transport services are completed on schedule and to the expected standard.
- Escalate delays and operational issues promptly, clearly, and professionally.
- Manage fleet expenditure while working to meet or exceed customer expectations whenever possible.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders as required.
- Handle day-to-day operational problem solving.
- Maintain compliance with WHS and COR requirements.
- Ensure a consistently high level of visibility and service across all operations.
Experience and qualifications
- At least 5 years’ proven experience managing a pick-up fleet of more than 25 vehicles on the road.
- Hold a current motor vehicle licence.
- Forklift licence is desirable, though not mandatory.
- Strong spoken and written communication skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting ability and strong attention to detail.
- Full commitment to delivering outstanding customer service every time.
- A solid team mindset and strong work ethic.
Additional requirements
