About the role
Boots UK is hiring a Dispenser to join the in-store pharmacy team in Braintree, England. In this position, you will support the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues in delivering pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently. You will also spend time in the healthcare department, developing patient relationships by understanding needs, greeting customers, dispensing prescriptions, and offering practical medicine and wellness guidance.
This is an in-store position in the UK only. Remote applications will not be considered, and applications from outside the UK will only move forward if the applicant can provide the relevant UK qualifications and proof of the right to work.
The hourly pay for this role is £13.92, with rates rising to as much as £16.64 at selected London locations.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense prescriptions while helping ensure medicines are supplied safely, including ordering, labelling, endorsing, and handing over prescriptions.
- Partner with healthcare colleagues in the store to support the delivery and day-to-day management of pharmacy services.
- Offer patients guidance on medicines and route any complex questions to the pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to help keep prescription dispensing safe and legally compliant.
- Stay current with in-store changes, new tools, and operational processes.
- Support patients in managing repeat prescriptions and medicines in a way that improves adherence and reduces waste.
- Use evolving store technology and systems that improve dispensing processes, patient safety, and time spent with patients.
Training and development
You will receive regular updates and training to strengthen your healthcare knowledge, along with career progression opportunities such as training to become a Pharmacy Technician or moving into store leadership.
Requirements
- Pharmacy Advisor qualification at NVQ2 level, or an equivalent qualification, or currently studying toward this while having completed the first year of an MPharm degree.
- Current valid UK right to work.
- Not eligible for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.
