Role overview
Westpac is seeking a Director in Group Strategy to help define the bank’s future direction. In this role, you will work with senior leaders to tackle complex business issues, uncover growth opportunities, and convert strategic ideas into practical outcomes.
What you will do
You will manage strategy initiatives end to end, from framing the problem through to forming recommendations and supporting execution. Your work will provide insights that inform major decisions across the Group, and you will collaborate closely with executive stakeholders to influence strategic priorities. A key part of the role is also helping strengthen the Strategy team through coaching, collaboration, and subject-matter leadership.
What you will bring
This position calls for a strong strategic mindset, the ability to work through ambiguity, and proven experience solving complex business challenges. You should be comfortable developing evidence-based recommendations, interpreting data, building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, and communicating complex ideas clearly in writing and in person. Experience leading projects in complex settings is important, along with familiarity with financial services, banking, or another highly regulated environment.
Why join Westpac
Westpac says it is focused on becoming customers’ preferred banking partner for life and is committed to creating a strong workplace for its people. Benefits mentioned include employee banking offers, discounted products from leading brands, attractive employee home-loan rates, flexible working arrangements, multiple leave options such as Culture, Lifestyle and Wellbeing leave, learning and development support, and volunteering opportunities.
Inclusion and support
The organisation states that it is committed to an inclusive and supportive workplace and welcomes candidates of all ages, genders, backgrounds, and abilities. Additional support is also available for veterans, Indigenous Australians, and neurodiverse people. If adjustments are needed during recruitment, candidates are directed to the company’s FAQs and contact information related to diversity, sustainability, and flexibility.
How to apply
Interested candidates can proceed through the application process using the employer’s recruitment portal.
