Role Overview

This Designer role calls for a versatile creative thinker who can move from big-picture concepting to polished execution. The ideal candidate can develop original, strategic, visually compelling work and adapt it across multiple platforms and formats. The role involves building brand systems, pushing creative boundaries within them, and carrying projects through production. A strong understanding of typography, color, composition, photography, and visual storytelling is important. The environment is highly collaborative, so the person in this role should be comfortable leading projects as well as supporting teammates. This position reports to the Design Director.

Responsibilities

  • Work smoothly within TED Brand Creative’s strategic, concept-led design workflow.
  • Develop memorable concepts, experiences, identities, and designs that bring TED’s brand, products, and initiatives to life across many channels.
  • Deliver design work at a high creative standard and contribute a strong point of view.
  • Create and execute brand identities and system frameworks for video series, podcasts, conferences, and other initiatives.
  • Expand event design systems into environmental graphics, books, stage visuals, digital campaigns, social assets, screen-based experiences, signage templates, merchandise, and related applications.
  • Produce original artwork for TED’s editorial channels.
  • Handle print production end-to-end, from layout development to vendor handoff, including large-format signage, conference materials, and print-ready files.
  • Pitch concepts and visual directions clearly and confidently.
  • Welcome feedback, use it to strengthen the work, and provide thoughtful feedback to teammates.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional graphic design experience.
  • New York City-based candidates are preferred, as TED is headquartered in New York City.
  • Broad creative interests beyond graphic design, such as illustration, motion, photography, 3D, or other adjacent disciplines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, especially InDesign and Photoshop, along with practical knowledge of print design and vendor-ready file preparation.
  • Strong ability to work in Figma; familiarity with digital design systems is an added advantage.

Additional Information

The salary range for this role is $75,000 to $83,000 per year.
