Role overview
The deli assistant will be responsible for preparing high-quality hot and cold deli foods while making customer satisfaction the top priority.
Key duties
- Represent the brand values of being proud, energetic, imaginative and community-focused in day-to-day work.
- Prepare customer orders across the fresh food counters, including making sandwiches and rolls, serving hot food, and slicing meats according to portion-control guidelines.
- Cook, prepare and present food items for sale throughout the day.
- Keep all fresh food counter displays to a consistently high standard.
- Show enthusiasm for quality food by sharing product knowledge, recipe ideas and personal recommendations with customers.
- Handle customer questions and concerns promptly, professionally and in line with store procedures.
Candidate profile
- Previous experience in customer service is helpful, though not essential.
- HACCP training is desirable but not required.
- Strong communication skills are important.
- The role suits someone who works well in a team and can manage several tasks in a busy, pressured environment.
- A genuine interest in food and the ability to encourage shoppers are key.
