What You’ll Do
This position is responsible for moderately complex custodial work that keeps the hospital environment sanitary, orderly, and safe for patients, staff, and visitors. The role includes routine cleaning, floor care, supply restocking, inspections, minor repairs, and outdoor cleanup, while working with limited supervision and using initiative when needed.
Additional Notes
This role may qualify for extra compensation when working evenings, nights, or weekends. In addition, the job may require participation in disaster response, recovery, or continuity of operations activities, which could involve changes to shift pattern and/or work location.
Employees may also be asked to work rotating schedules, extended shifts, or overtime based on agency needs and leave policy.
Hiring and Compliance Information
Applicants must pass a fingerprint-based criminal background check, a pre-employment drug screen, and multiple registry screenings, including CANRS, Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, Employee Misconduct, and LEIE checks.
Males aged 18 through 25 must be registered with Selective Service. Candidates must be at least 18 years old to work at a state-operated facility; however, applicants for Waco and Terrell Center for Youth must be 21 or older.
This position requires compliance with HHSC immunization policies and state hospital immunization procedures. Depending on contact level, vaccination requirements may apply. If influenza vaccination is declined, masking and other protective measures may be required.
