Role overview
This opportunity is for an experienced Contract Manager to support infrastructure and capital project delivery in sectors such as energy, utilities, transport, housing, and healthcare. The role sits within a UKI Business Consulting environment and is based in Dublin, Ireland, with a largely remote setup and occasional visits to client offices when needed.
The position is part of a transformation delivery team focused on large-scale capital programmes. The work involves managing contract-related activity across construction and infrastructure assignments, helping ensure obligations are met, risks are controlled, and project outcomes are protected.
About the team
The Infrastructure and Capital Projects group operates within a consulting practice and supports clients through procurement, construction, and operational phases of major programmes. The team draws on sector experience, client relationships, and broad project-lifecycle expertise to act as a trusted advisor.
Core responsibilities
- Partner with infrastructure clients to shape practical ideas and solutions tailored to their requirements.
- Work with project teams to create contract management plans that align with goals, timelines, and budget limits.
- Handle contract setup activities, including preparing, reviewing, and negotiating agreements with subcontractors and vendors.
- Check that contractual terms, conditions, and technical specifications are being followed, while flagging risks and putting mitigation actions in place.
- Manage changes, variations, and claims, including evaluation of impacts on scope, schedule, and cost, and secure the required approvals.
- Identify contractual exposures and work with stakeholders to reduce risk and prevent disruption.
- Measure contract performance against KPIs, milestones, and deliverables, then share updates with project and management teams.
- Support the handling of disputes and claims through negotiation, mediation, or other resolution methods.
- Build productive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and external partners to support collaboration and project alignment.
- Oversee budgets, spending, and invoicing, and resolve financial mismatches to keep records accurate and compliant.
- Keep contract files, documentation, reporting, and status presentations current and well organised.
Internal and business development duties
- Strengthen relationships with clients and colleagues to help generate new business opportunities.
- Support presentations and proposals for medium to highly complex engagements.
- Work with senior leadership and help build, coordinate, and motivate effective teams.
- Understand the full range of service offerings and look for ways to support additional client needs.
- Develop strong connections within consulting and across other service lines.
- Assist with client account activities, including project recruitment, financial management, and quality/risk oversight.
Experience and background
Hiring is open across multiple levels, from Contract Manager to Senior Contract Manager, with expectations varying by seniority. Suitable candidates bring a mix of engineering, technical, construction, law, commercial, procurement, and project management experience.
- For Contract Manager level, the role typically suits professionals with 5 to 8 years of experience supporting contract administration and management, including drafting, systems implementation, stakeholder coordination, and reporting.
- For Senior Contract Manager level, the role typically suits professionals with more than 8 years of experience leading contract formation, governance, performance monitoring, commercial issue resolution, team oversight, and contract/procurement strategy.
- Experience in consulting or another client-facing environment is strongly preferred.
- Background across contract management, procurement, and project management is valuable.
- Strong knowledge of contract administration, risk management, change control, and dispute resolution is expected.
- Familiarity with FIDIC, LOGIC, and/or NEC4 is important.
Qualifications and skills
A third-level qualification in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying, Law, or a related discipline is required.
The ideal candidate will be confident communicating with stakeholders, negotiating effectively, solving problems, managing multiple priorities, and working accurately in a fast-moving environment.
Rewards and working model
The role comes with a competitive pay package and a broader total rewards offering. Benefits are designed to support flexibility, wellbeing, and career growth, and can be tailored to individual needs.
Benefits include pension, maternity and paternity leave, discounted health insurance, bike-to-work support, free unlimited online GP consultations for employees and family members, recognition awards, the option to buy additional annual leave, referral cash incentives, hybrid working, a work mobile, free gym membership, employer-paid TECH MBA, a travel pass, and wellness rooms in some offices.
The employer is committed to inclusion and is open to flexible working arrangements. Client-facing professionals may need to travel regularly and sometimes work from client sites, but hybrid working is offered to help support work-life balance and career progression.
Career growth
From the start, employees are supported through continuous learning, coaching, and development opportunities. The role is designed to help shape a personalised career path, with leadership development and an inclusive culture that encourages individual contribution and growth.
