Role overview
The Business Analyst will support complex business initiatives within the PMO, working closely with a wide range of stakeholders including technical teams, business managers, subject matter experts, and frontline staff. The role requires strong analytical capability to test assumptions, evaluate benefits, and shape practical solutions. A willingness to respectfully challenge established views and contribute creative ideas is important.
This position is a national opportunity, offered on a full-time basis at 75 hours per fortnight, with hybrid working arrangements.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager in delivering complex projects that create clear and measurable business efficiencies.
- Operate within the organisation’s change and project management frameworks.
- Consult stakeholders, run meetings and workshops, and gather information needed to define requirements and map business processes.
- Prepare project scopes, business requirements documents, and supporting material for proposals, business cases, and related project documents.
- Build benefits models to demonstrate tangible strategic improvements delivered by project activities.
- Review specifications and business cases produced by other teams to identify improvement or project opportunities.
- Support implementation efforts and help transition delivered work into BAU.
- Assist Project Managers and the PMO with estimating project timelines and budgets.
- Prepare progress and issue updates for the Project Sponsor.
- Work with sponsors to resolve project issues where needed.
- Create process maps and logical data models.
About you
You are highly organised, detail-focused, and comfortable working independently with limited supervision. You have a solid understanding of banking and finance, along with practical business analysis experience. You communicate clearly, work well with different groups across the business, and are confident managing multiple priorities while facilitating workshops and supporting process improvement.
Qualifications and experience
- Strong familiarity with business analysis practices, including BABOK-based methods.
- Hands-on experience in business process improvement.
- Confidence in workshop facilitation and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to move effectively between business and technical teams.
- Excellent leadership and negotiation skills, with the ability to work autonomously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Planner, and Visio for documentation.
- A relevant degree in business administration, IT, economics, statistics, or accounting is desirable.
- Knowledge of business operations and experience in change management is desirable.

Recruitment process
