Role overview
The Analyst - Project Accounting role is designed for a motivated professional who can contribute in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. This position partners closely with Investment Accounting, Treasury, and the Development team to manage capital invoice processing and job cost tracking, and reports to the Director - Project Accounting.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the Project AP inbox, respond to vendors and property managers, and provide strong service support.
- Handle accounts payable tasks related to capital invoices, including data entry, job cost coding, and monitoring workflow progress.
- Set up jobs for capital projects and leasing assets.
- Check backup documentation for contracts and verify that setups are accurate.
- Perform monthly reconciliations between the job cost subledger and the general ledger.
- Prepare job cost journal entries for reclasses, percent-complete accruals, and commissions.
- Calculate construction management fees on a quarterly basis.
- Support job closeouts connected to dispositions and tenant terminations.
- Review bank reconciliations for joint ventures.
- Track job status and end-date changes needed before monthly forecasting.
- Work with the broader accounting team on special projects, ad hoc requests, and other support needs.
Requirements
- Strong analytical ability.
- Preferred background in technical accounting concepts.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel.
- Self-driven work style, strong ownership, and sound independent judgment.
