Job description
About Carpentaria
Carpentaria is a not-for-profit organisation that supports children, adolescents, and adults living with disability through therapy, independent living, employment, training, and accommodation services. Its service areas include allied health programs such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and psychology, as well as independent living support, the Pathways Program, employment and training, and specialist disability accommodation.
The organisation aims to provide innovative, flexible support that helps people thrive and live fulfilling lives, while upholding a person-centred philosophy that respects every individual’s right to make informed decisions about their life.
Purpose
This role involves assisting children and young people with day-to-day living in a 24/7 home setting. The position contributes to building and applying strategies that encourage positive behaviour and support the development of independent living skills, helping young people reach their potential in both home and community environments.
Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will bring experience in residential care, youth services, or out-of-home care settings, along with a strong commitment to supporting children and young people through a person-centred approach. A sound understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and experience working in cross-cultural environments is important. The role also requires flexibility to work a wide range of shifts, including short and long shifts across weekdays, weekends, evenings, nights, sleepovers, and public holidays.
Remuneration and Benefits
This opportunity includes a competitive pay and benefits package. Part-time staff may access salary packaging worth up to $6,400 in additional salary equivalent. Other benefits include 12% superannuation, 5 weeks of annual leave with 17.5% leave loading, employee discounts, wellness benefits, and free confidential support through the Employee Assistance Program. The role is also described as offering the satisfaction of meaningful work.
Recruitment Process
Selection is based on values, skills, and qualifications.
