Role Summary
As a Yard Team Member, you will support the daily flow of boatyard activity. Your work will include moving vessels in and out of the water, operating yard machinery, and helping maintain safe, efficient operations. This position is best suited to someone with marine experience who is comfortable working in a busy, hands-on setting.
Core Duties
- Support boat hauling and launching activities.
- Position and block boats according to their size, weight, and load distribution.
- Help organize yard space and allocate resources efficiently.
- Coordinate daily tasks with the team and resolve operational or scheduling challenges.
- Move vessels with a lift crane, marine railway, or similar equipment.
- Operate a forklift, travel-lift, and other heavy-duty machinery as needed.
- Keep detailed records of loads, service hours, mileage, and fuel usage.
- Carry out yard work such as cleaning, sanding, waxing, painting, and general bottom maintenance.
- Handle dock lines and fenders and assist with boat handling tasks.
- Complete pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip checks.
- Follow safety procedures and keep the work area orderly and hazard-free.
- Escalate unsafe conditions or mechanical concerns to the supervisor or foreman.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Applicants should have prior experience working in a marine setting, including launch-related duties. The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods. A valid driver’s license is mandatory, and forklift certification is an added advantage. All candidates must be able to clear a background check as a condition of employment.
Qualifications
- Good boat-handling ability.
- Comfortable using hand tools and power tools.
- Prior experience with a travel-lift, marine railway, or comparable heavy equipment is preferred.
