Yard Customer/Sales Expert

Role overview

Travis Perkins plc is looking for a Yard Customer/Sales Expert to join its branch team in Colchester. In this front-line role, you will serve customers visiting the yard, support day-to-day operations, and help ensure a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment. The position combines customer service with hands-on yard work and vehicle handling.

What you will do

• Serve customers in the yard and deliver a high standard of friendly, helpful service.
• Build positive working relationships with customers, including regular trade customers.
• Process customer orders from the outdoor yard area.
• Load and unload customer and company vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Receive building products from suppliers and accurately check them into the branch warehouse.
• Operate a forklift when required; full training will be provided if needed.
• Keep the work area tidy, organised, and compliant with safety expectations.

This is a customer-facing position where communication, teamwork, and reliability matter. You should be comfortable working outdoors, handling heavy building materials, and staying active throughout the day.
