Job description
Role overview
The Site Safety Officer will work closely with the Fulfillment Center operations team to put workplace safety policies into practice and maintain compliance with all relevant local and regional regulations. Using lean methods and kaizen-driven improvement, this role will help cut down environmental, ergonomic, and process-related risks while supporting a safe and healthy environment for associates.
The role also calls for building strong trust with operations teams, using risk evaluations and safety data to drive improvements, and influencing change through practical guidance. Clear communication, both spoken and written, is essential, along with the ability to train operations leaders on company safety standards and help integrate those standards at the site.
The officer will also identify effective practices and convert them into stronger internal standards, while bringing solid knowledge of safety programs, environmental considerations, and ergonomic risk management to day-to-day work with operations.
Responsibilities
- Partner with site operations teams to implement workplace safety policies at the fulfillment center.
- Ensure compliance with applicable local and regional safety regulations.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts using lean principles and kaizen practices to reduce process, ergonomic, and environmental risks.
- Prepare and use risk assessments and safety data analysis to support decision-making and drive safer ways of working.
- Build credibility with operations teams and influence adoption of safer practices.
- Communicate safety updates and instructions clearly and consistently in both verbal and written form.
- Train operations leaders on company safety policies and help embed safety standards into site processes.
- Identify stronger practices from the field and incorporate them into company safety standards.
- Apply knowledge of safety, environmental, and ergonomic programs while working with operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety or a related discipline.
- Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science, or an equivalent qualification along with a Diploma in Fire & Safety or NEBOSH IGC certification.
- Experience with progressively broader responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences and senior leaders.
- Experience implementing and enforcing safety standards in warehouse and maintenance settings is preferred.
- Exposure to transportation operations and related industry practices is preferred.
- Ability to solve problems and work with data analytics is preferred.
