Role overview
For the earliest possible start, Deutsche Bahn is hiring a Weichenwärter:in (w/m/d) for S-Bahn Berlin GmbH at the Berlin-Schöneweide and Grünau locations. The role is centered on the safe control of rail movements in a mechanical signal box at the Berlin marshalling yard.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure safe and punctual shunting movements from the mechanical interlocking at the Berlin marshalling yard.
- Set up the full route for train departures, including switches, track routing, and signals, to support a safe exit.
- Coordinate closely with colleagues at adjacent signal boxes, train drivers, and control centers.
- Issue, receive, and relay operational notices as well as timetable-related messages.
- Monitor the track network and arrange line blockages whenever disruptions occur.
Profile and requirements
- You already work as a Weichenwärter:in and bring very good knowledge of, and experience with, mechanical signalling technology, or you are willing to build this expertise.
- You are known for strong accountability, dependability, professional judgment under pressure, and punctuality.
- A valid operational fitness assessment for the Weichenwärter:in role is required.
- You must be prepared to work shifts, including night, weekend, and public-holiday duties.

Additional information
