About the Role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Website Officer, P3, to join its Communication Division in Nairobi. UNEP is the primary global authority on environmental matters, responsible for shaping the international environmental agenda and ensuring the integration of environmental sustainability within the UN system. The Communication Division plays a crucial role in disseminating UNEP's key messages to a broad audience, thereby increasing environmental awareness and elevating the organization's global standing.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Web Platforms, under the general direction of the Chief of the Digital Strategy Section, the Website Officer will undertake the following duties:

  • Manage and maintain UNEP's web platforms, ensuring their optimal performance and user experience.
  • Implement and oversee the digital strategy for UNEP's online presence.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of web content management strategies.
  • Ensure the coherence and effectiveness of UNEP's digital communication efforts.
  • Collaborate with various teams to integrate environmental themes into web content.
  • Monitor web analytics and provide insights for continuous improvement.
  • Stay abreast of the latest web technologies and best practices.

Competencies

The role requires strong competencies in web management, digital communication, and project coordination within an international organization.

Education

A first-level university degree in Information Technology, Communications, Journalism, or a related field is required.

Job-Specific Qualification

Not specified, but relevant experience in web development and content management is expected.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in web management, digital content creation, or a related area is required. Experience within the UN system or a similar international organization is desirable.
