Web Graphic Designer

Role overview

TMZ is seeking a Web Graphic Designer to join its Graphics team in Playa Vista, CA. The position focuses on producing editorial visuals and digital graphics for TMZ’s web platforms. You’ll work closely with the Creative Director, editors, and other newsroom partners to create fresh design solutions and support both web and mobile creative work in a high-energy editorial setting.

What you’ll do

• Prepare visual assets each day for editorial stories, photo galleries, advertiser comps, and newsletters in a fast-moving newsroom.
• Build interactive materials such as web pages, widgets, emails, user interfaces, style guides, and presentation pieces.
• Regularly contribute original design ideas that strengthen and evolve the TMZ brand.
• Edit images for the web by adjusting color, resizing, and optimizing photos and graphics.
• Work extensively in Photoshop as part of the core production workflow.

What you’ll need

• 1 to 3 years of experience designing in a web-based environment, ideally in publishing, editorial media, a large media organization, or an interactive agency.
• Advanced Photoshop skills are essential.
• Strong familiarity with celebrities and pop culture is required.
• Knowledge of sports and athletes is considered an advantage.
• Ability to stay effective under pressure in a fast-paced news environment.
• Weekend availability is required.
• Good understanding of the TMZ brand along with celebrity and pop culture trends.
• A strong portfolio showing interactive and/or static design work.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, CMS tools, and modern development trends.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a variety of personalities.

Pay and benefits

The expected pay range for this position is $23.75 to $26.00 per hour, with the final offer depending on education, skills, experience, and location. Benefits may include medical, dental, and vision coverage, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits according to the applicable plan documents. For union-represented employees, benefits will follow the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
