About the role
AfriCraft NGO is looking for a driven and well-organized Waste Management Coordinator to help run its waste collection and material recovery activities in Dar es Salaam. This position is central to keeping day-to-day operations on track, building strong working relationships with stakeholders, tracking performance, and contributing to the growth of sustainable waste management systems.
What you will do
- Oversee and assist with the daily execution of waste collection operations.
- Track collection timetables and help ensure routes are carried out efficiently.
- Make sure waste is sorted, stored, moved, and delivered correctly to the Material Recovery Facility (MRF).
- Compile operational updates on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Work closely with cooperative groups, institutions, businesses, and community stakeholders on waste management activities.
- Step in for the Waste Management Manager in meetings with Local Government Authorities and other partners when needed.
- Spot operational issues and suggest workable improvements to boost efficiency and service quality.
- Assist with data gathering, record-keeping, and monitoring of waste management work.
- Carry out other tasks assigned by the Waste Management Manager.

Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Waste Management, Natural Resource Management, or a similar discipline.
- Well-developed organizational ability and strong report-writing skills.
- Capacity to work on your own and juggle several tasks at the same time.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage different stakeholders effectively.
- Professional fluency in both English and Kiswahili.
- Experience working with local government bodies, community groups, cooperatives, or NGOs is preferred.
- Background in waste collection, recycling, circular economy work, or environmental initiatives is an advantage.
- Basic skills in data analysis and reporting are preferred.
