Job description
Role overview
Join a welcoming veterinary team in Point Chevalier as a full-time Vet Nurse. You will work alongside experienced nurses, veterinarians, and reception staff in a collaborative clinic that values kindness, humour, and high standards of patient care and client service.
This role is best suited to an experienced veterinary nurse who enjoys working in a busy, forward-moving practice and wants to build leadership capability within the profession. The position is 37 hours per week, with shifts distributed fairly across the nursing team, no after-hours work, and a 1-in-4 Saturday roster.
What the team is like
The clinic describes itself as supportive, friendly, and team-focused. Staff are encouraged to work closely together, share knowledge across the network, and go the extra mile for pets and their owners.
Clinical environment and casework
The clinic is equipped with in-house bio-chemistry blood analysers, digital radiography, dental radiography, and dedicated nurse consult rooms. Nurses are expected to use a broad range of their skills, including IV catheter placement, blood and urine collection, anaesthesia monitoring, hospital care, treatment support, triage, and routine nurse consultations.
A wider clinic network also provides access to ultrasound, advanced dentistry, in-house blood analysers, and digital radiography, helping the team deliver a high standard of care to both patients and clients.
What success in the role looks like
The ideal nurse is confident and technically capable, able to manage challenging procedures, recognise common medical issues quickly, and provide strong client education even when pet owners may be less realistic about at-home care. This role calls for someone who is calm under pressure, detail-oriented, and able to handle clinical tasks efficiently.
What you’ll bring
You should hold a veterinary nursing qualification, bring prior experience and initiative, and be motivated to work hard. A warm, approachable personality, solid communication skills, strong organisation, and a practical understanding of veterinary nursing procedures are all important. The clinic also values candidates who enjoy being part of a close-knit team working toward the best outcomes for every patient.
Work-life balance and benefits
This role has been designed with balance in mind, with no after-hours duties and a shared roster structure. Benefits include practical training opportunities, flexible hours, access to wellbeing support, parental leave benefits, a return-to-work bonus, CPD support, professional networking opportunities, staff recognition, referral rewards, health insurance after service requirements are met, and staff discounts including Fitness Passport.
Additional opportunities
You may also have the chance to take part in the ANZ Vet Nurse Program, ASPIRE, and contribute to a Vet Nurse Advisory Committee. Team members can move within the network while keeping benefits and accrued entitlements.
Extra information
The role reflects a clinic culture that values excellence, continuous development, and a fun, supportive working environment.
