Role overview
The hotel is seeking a part-time van driver for a schedule of 3 days per week with 10-hour shifts. This position sits within the Rooms department and reports to the FOM, AGM, or GM. It is classified as non-exempt under FLSA.
Job purpose
The main responsibility of this role is to transport guests safely and on time between the property and designated destinations while delivering a high standard of guest service. Safety, reliability, courtesy, and punctuality are central to the job.
Key duties
- Drive the hotel van to move guests between the hotel and locations such as airports and nearby attractions.
- Support guests with luggage handling, including loading, unloading, and securing bags correctly.
- Maintain a polite, professional, and guest-focused manner throughout all interactions.
- Follow all traffic rules and driving safety requirements.
- Inspect the vehicle routinely by checking items such as tire pressure, oil levels, and other safety-related features, and report maintenance concerns to the relevant team.
- Keep the van clean and well presented inside and outside.
- Record trip details accurately, including mileage and fuel consumption.
- Share helpful information with guests about local sights, hotel amenities, and general questions.
- Coordinate with the front desk and other departments on guest pickup and drop-off timing.
Qualifications and expectations
- A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required.
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are necessary.
- Prior experience in a comparable role is desirable, though not mandatory.
- Strong customer service and communication abilities are important.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required.
- Knowledge of the local area is considered an advantage.
Physical and work conditions
The role involves sitting for long periods while driving, repeatedly getting in and out of the vehicle, and helping guests with luggage, including items up to 50 lbs. Routine vehicle checks may also require bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work is mainly outdoors and may involve rain, snow, heat, and other weather conditions. Evening and weekend shifts may occasionally be needed.
