Job description
About the Company
Kalshi operates in prediction markets, a new financial category that lets people trade on the outcome of future events. The platform enables users to express views on events and convert those views into financial positions. After years of effort, the company helped legalize prediction markets in the United States for the first time and says it is now the fastest-growing financial market in America, with markets spanning politics, economics, finance, weather, technology, AI, culture, and more.
The company’s long-term goal is to create the world’s largest financial market. Its mission is to increase truth in the world through the power of markets. The team is intentionally small, highly ambitious, and built around strong ownership, hard work, and a bias toward making meaningful progress.
Role Overview
Kalshi is looking for a founding UX Researcher to establish and lead the research function. In this role, you will help the company understand user needs, behaviors, and emotions so product decisions are grounded in real customer insight. You will run both qualitative and quantitative research across the full product lifecycle, from early problem discovery to post-launch evaluation, and bring the user perspective into decision-making before directions are finalized.
This is a rare chance to shape how a category-defining financial product builds research capabilities from the ground up.
What You Will Do
- Plan and run research from start to finish, using methods such as interviews, usability testing, surveys, journey mapping, and behavioral analysis.
- Choose the right method for each question, whether the answer comes from talking to users, surveying them, or analyzing existing data.
- Build and oversee ongoing research programs, including survey design, CSAT or NPS tracking, and continuous feedback loops.
- Work comfortably with product analytics and data tools to create and interpret dashboards, define useful metrics, and combine quantitative evidence with qualitative findings.
- Turn complex findings into clear, practical narratives that product, policy, and leadership teams can act on.
- Develop strong empathy for traders, institutions, and developers by understanding their workflows, motivations, and pain points across the product journey.
What We Are Looking For
- At least 5 years of UX research experience in an industry setting.
- Strong ability to work quickly in fast-moving, zero-to-one environments where priorities can shift and ambiguity is common.
- Excellent judgment in selecting the most appropriate research approach for the problem at hand, with strong command of both qualitative and quantitative techniques.
- High data fluency, with the ability to use behavioral and business data to sharpen research questions, interpret outcomes, and connect insights to measurable impact.
- Comfort using multiple data sources together to validate findings and strengthen recommendations.
- Hands-on use of AI tools in research workflows, including synthesizing large volumes of qualitative input, identifying patterns across interviews, and speeding up analysis.
- Genuine interest in users and a strong motivation to speak with customers regularly.
- Self-directed ownership mindset, with the ability to identify what needs to be learned and move research programs forward independently.
Culture
Kalshi emphasizes merit, ownership, and figuring out difficult problems. The company values people who think ambitiously, care deeply about their craft, and want to help build something both large in scale and genuinely useful. New team members are trusted early and expected to contribute with autonomy from day one.
Equal Opportunity
Kalshi states that it is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to inclusion and belonging. Candidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, and all qualified applicants are considered fairly regardless of protected characteristics under federal, state, or local law.
