Job description

Company overview

TOPdesk is an international software business focused on service management, with 700 employees across 8 countries and 5,000 customers around the world. The company is hiring a UX Designer - Design Systems (m/f/d) for its offices in Kaiserslautern, Delft, or Budapest.

Role context

In this position, you will be part of a cross-functional product enablement team and work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and fellow UX Designers. The environment emphasizes creativity, user-centred thinking, and collaborative problem-solving. Your colleagues are based in the Netherlands, Germany, and Hungary, and you will report to a UX Manager while coordinating regularly with the Design System team and other stakeholders.

What you'll do

  • Adjust the design system so it supports precise prototyping with AI-assisted tools.
  • Take ownership of components, patterns, and usage guidance from concept through release.
  • Spot missing areas in the enterprise design system and turn those findings into accessible, inclusive, and scalable solutions.
  • Build prototypes to present, validate, and explain component behaviour to stakeholders.
  • Lead ideation and structured problem-solving sessions with team members and stakeholders.
  • Improve consistency and speed across the system, and suggest new components or refinements when needed.
  • Define how design and code work together, including AI-oriented and token-aware interface needs.
  • Test and improve components using feedback, usability testing, and data insights.
  • Prepare thorough documentation and handover assets to support smooth developer implementation.
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Designers to influence system-level decisions.
  • Help raise design maturity and strengthen design processes across the organization.
  • Keep up with new trends, tools, and best practices in design systems and AI tooling.

What we're looking for

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in UX design.
  • A degree or vocational qualification in design, HCI, or a closely related subject.
  • Strong understanding of design systems, including the reasoning behind their structure and use.
  • Practical experience connecting design systems with AI tools and token-based interactions.
  • Advanced Figma skills for component design, pattern creation, prototyping, and documentation.
  • Experience working across design, engineering, and accessibility considerations.
  • Confidence in influencing strategic decisions within a product triad.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with Engineers, PMs, and Designers.
  • A genuine interest in accessibility, inclusivity, and complex system-level challenges.
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to arrive with a plan rather than only an idea.
  • A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design system work at substantial scale.

Benefits

  • Permanent employment with strong job security.
  • Option to work remotely for up to 50% of the time.
  • Holiday bonus, special payments, monthly tax-free Mastercard benefits, and corporate perks.
  • Flexible working models, including full-time and part-time options, plus flexible hours.
  • 30 days of annual leave.
  • Structured onboarding, a dedicated buddy, and a comprehensive training programme.
  • Family-friendly support, including flexible parental leave, leadership that supports families, and help with caregiving responsibilities.
  • Informal “du” culture and an open, collaborative international workplace.
  • Learning and development support through individual training, Babbel, and Udemy.
  • Health and wellbeing support via OpenUp, Wellhub, and in-office massages.
  • Mobility benefits such as free parking, bicycle parking, bike leasing, and a public transport ticket.
