Role overview
Martin Marietta is looking for a Utility Person to support site operations in Junction City, Georgia. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and ready to take on a mix of maintenance, production, and equipment-related tasks. This position supports plant upkeep, operating equipment, and day-to-day efficiency across the site.
Work schedule
Standard working hours are 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. Weekend work may be required when needed.
Key duties
- Carry out routine and preventative maintenance on plant and mobile equipment, including welding and cutting tasks when directed by the plant manager or other authorized personnel.
- Complete daily pre-shift and post-shift equipment checks and keep maintenance records up to date.
- Use hand shovels and operate equipment such as skid steers and front-end loaders, along with other tools, to clean around plant machinery and keep roads and parking areas in good condition.
- Run a water truck to help control dust in the work area.
- Support plant activities such as production, loading, shipping, and quality control.
- Maintain clean, orderly work areas and help ensure safe traffic movement across the site.
- Operate plant-specific mobile equipment, including excavators and haul trucks, safely when assigned.
- Help train co-workers when required.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Candidate profile
The company is seeking someone who can handle cross-functional work in a heavy materials environment and contribute reliably to maintenance and operations. Prior experience in the building materials industry is preferred. A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent hands-on experience is expected.
