Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Urban Planner to contribute to urban development strategies, land-use planning, and sustainable city initiatives. The position calls for someone who can carry out planning research, study urban trends, prepare development proposals, and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver practical urban solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and help shape urban planning strategies, master plans, and broader development frameworks.
- Research urban conditions and assess land use, population growth, infrastructure, and environmental influences.
- Draft planning reports, technical documentation, presentations, and development recommendations.
- Assist with zoning reviews, urban design studies, and community development initiatives.
- Assess how proposed projects may affect urban systems and local communities.
- Work with spatial data and planning datasets to support informed decisions.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, developers, government bodies, and consultants.
- Examine planning regulations, policy requirements, and development guidelines.
- Support sustainability efforts, smart city programs, and urban regeneration work.
- Track changes in urban trends and suggest improvements to planning approaches.
Requirements
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Urban Planning, City Planning, Architecture, Geography, Civil Engineering, Environmental Planning, or a similar discipline.
- Between 3 and 7+ years of experience in urban planning, spatial planning, land-use planning, or closely related roles.
- Solid knowledge of urban development concepts, zoning rules, and planning procedures.
- Proven ability to prepare planning reports, development assessments, and strategic recommendations.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
- Comfort working independently while also collaborating well in a remote setup.
- Well-developed organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in GCC, Middle East, or international urban development projects is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar tools is an advantage.
- Knowledge of sustainable urban development, smart cities, and climate-resilient planning is desirable.
- Exposure to government agencies, municipalities, or planning authorities is beneficial.
- Familiarity with transportation planning, infrastructure planning, and environmental assessment is valuable.
- Professional membership or certification in urban planning will be considered an asset.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary and international teams is preferred.
